Ft. Lauderdale part 3!

Ok next....more about our Ft. Lauderdale trip.  Sick of hearing about it yet? lol.  This outline should look familiar...gonna finish it up. lol

1. Lots of meetings, work, and political mingling
2. Run in with the Atlanta Falcons
3. Mini beach fun
4. Flight was rescheduled, then got cancelled
5. Tropical Storm Isaac
6. Trying to make the most of it
7. Spending way too much $$ throughout!

So....Saturday morning dawned with gusty winds and pouring rain.  Fantastic. NOT.  Immediate dampering of our vacation mood, although we both fought it valiantly.  Since Southwest kept calling and suggesting we change to an earlier flight we did.  So our original flight was on Monday around 4pm, we changed it to Sunday around 4pm.  Then Saturday night, all Southwest flights after 10am out of FLL were canceled. Garrrrhhh.  So after much time on the phone with Southwest we basically got back our original flight at 4:25 pm but not direct- with a short layover in Tampa.  Luckily we got home safe and sound in BWI by 9:00pm

Tropical Storm Isaac....the reason why our flight got all messed up.  It was off and on pouring and high winds all day on Sunday.  There was this one break though, during which Adrian snuck out of the hotel and onto the beach.  We weren't "allowed" aka weren't supposed to be there but there apparently were other people out, too during this lull.

The sections roped off are for sea turtle eggs.  They actually have rules against noise and lights at night because of the sea turtles. So cool!

So, Saturday amongst all the flight changes and thinking we would be leaving a day early....we decided to visit the spa and utilize the Banfield discount to get some quality sweedish massages.  I haven't felt so pampered before from the moment we walked into the spa till the moment we walked out. Awesome experience from start to finish and a great massage.  We of course spent waaaay too much money.  Like... crazy splurge.  Happy Anniversary, hunny!

After the spa visit, we grabbed a quick lunch at the ocean side restaurant where it had finally stopped raining!!   And thank goodness, it never started again on Saturday!  We walked along the beach for a while, waded in the warm water for a while and then got a bit freaked out from all the rip current warnings and lack of other swimmers (and no lifeguards) so we headed to the beautiful, huge, lagoon pool.  The waves were already really strong, so it just wasn't enjoyable with them crashing so hard and stirring up so much sand

Rough but pretty!
So we spent a good amount of time in the pool and jacuzzi Saturday afternoon and evening.  Good times, duh.  We also had a nice fancy dinner in the delicious 3030 restaurant complete with wine from the cheaper happy hour prices at the bar.  We know how to drink smart, people!   It was also the only drink I had all week. I wasn't feeling the drinking calories thing at ALL on this trip.

Overall, we enjoyed lots of good socializing with some of my close work friends which was awesome and broke up the boring monotony of being stranded inside on Sunday.  We somehow managed to score TWO FREE movies to watch on Sunday because of a maintenance issue in our room. Sweetness!

All in all....it's good to be back where you can walk outside without feeling like you are going to be blown over!

  2. Nice post. I like beach. For me, its the most relaxing place to visit. After a long day of work. It's good to relax and Fort Lauderdale Massage is the best place to relieve stress. Feel free to know the benefits of massage.
